        Using an Abacus

Numbers from 10 onwards have two digits each. One digit is in the ones
place and the other digit is in the tens place.

We can represent the numbers using an abacus.
An abacus has rods. Rod 1 is the ones rod. Rod Rod 2 Rod 1
                                                                                                            (Ones)
                                                                                     (Tens)
2 is the tens rod. A maximum of 9 beads can be
        used in each rod.
